The point of journaling

One of the things I put on my 2025 vision board… was journaling.
I started in February.
And for the next three months — I wrote about everything.
How I was spending my entire day.
And in between all that, a few thoughts. A few feelings.
Nothing too deep, just… real.
It felt good.
Especially for someone whoʼs memory is that of a goldfish, it felt like Iʼm
downloading the day on a piece of paper.
But then I stopped.
Got lazy. Took breaks. Told myself Iʼd get back to it.
And guess what?
Those breaks almost always showed up
during the times I was feeling too much.
Overwhelmed. Anxious. Confused.
And thatʼs when it hit me.
Woman, youʼre missing the whole point of journaling.
Itʼs not just a routine — itʼs a release.
A place to take whatʼs swirling around in your head,
and see it for what it really is.
Because once itʼs out there — on paper —
you realise a) it felt heavier inside your head,
and b) those feelings?
They do pass.
They get easier with time. You just need to track that truth.
Because journaling isnʼt about having wise things to say.
Itʼs about being honest. Present.
And slowly — getting to know yourself better.
